Euro 2012: Uefa investigates claims banana thrown

Uefa is investigating reports that a banana was thrown onto the pitch during Croatia’s Group C game against Italy in Poznan, although neither country have lodged an official protest.

Target: Mario Balotelli allegedly had monkey chants directed at him

 

The claim is the second racism-related incident involving Italy during Euro 2012 following allegations that striker Mario Balotelli was subjected to monkey chants during last Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Spain in Gdansk.

Uefa is continuing to investigate the claims, made by a Spanish supporters’ group, that Balotelli was targeted during the game.
